July 2023

Dear praying family!

We have significantly less pictures for you compared to last month. Nonetheless, we have real informative updates, ministry activities, and much more to see and read when you click HERE

Arriba Peru! We have heard this continually this entire month and more so on July 28th as we celebrated 202 years of republican life. It was the first time the nation heard a 72-page presidential address from a female president that took her 3 hours and 11 minutes to deliver. Not the short and sweet package most like to welcome. This might keep accentuating or even sinking her popularity numbers that according to recent polls stands at a meager 14%

We continue to rely on your prayers to hold us up as we press on with our home and ministry responsibilities here in Trujillo. Unlike June that was packed with traveling most of the month, the Lord providentially kept us local to be able to tackle planned and spontaneous opportunities to be the hand and feet of Jesus that came our way.

Last month we reported the arrival of 4 siblings to Hogar de Esperanza. Thank you for praying for them. They have integrated completely and seem to be looking forward to each day in their new home. Part of feeling home involves weekly attendance to the local assembly. On their first Sunday, as they were sitting in the service, they heard mention of a supper about to take place. Not being familiar with the Lord’s Supper celebration, one of them quipped excitedly: “are they serving us all supper?” Thank you for praying especially when we have new kids to integrate. We credit your prayers for ameliorating the condition of each one’s heart to help us deal with what otherwise could break the peace and harmony in the home. Early in July, Jose (12), Stefany (9), Miguel (7) and Fernando (5) started going to school. Again, we praise the Lord for the smooth transition of these four souls to their new home with new routines. We long to see them one day receiving Jesus into their hearts, for that we commit to love and care for them in His name!

Dealing with our neighbor encroaching on a large portion of the property is not going smoothly. The case has moved to a new phase where each board member that participated to stop the illegal incursion has been called to give a statement to the DA. We had hoped our neighbor would want to negotiate and stop the case from going further. He seemed to want to do so as he asked to speak directly to us. Instead, he has created a new strategy claiming that a third party sold him part of the land and that the encroaching was done by squatters. Please pray for our lawyer and our board as we are still committing time, energy, and resources to defend what we know to be our responsibility as current managers of this ministry. We called for a new survey of the entire property hoping that when we compare it with the public registry, we’ll have a more definite idea of what to do next. We are going to get the results of the survey very soon.

Remember the jungle project we initiated in June in San Jose? You’ll want to see what the building looks like now. The structure was literally completed early on in July. We are thrilled that believers didn’t stop until all supplies and material were used. And you’ll need to see the more elaborate/regulated project here on the coast, in Menocucho. We inaugurated the first floor and dedicated it to the Lord in mid-July. As a testimony, both on the jungle and the coast, we are seeing a revived commitment to the local assembly brokered by the Spirit that united people from near and far to get things done in Jesus’ name.

We have plenty more prayer and praise items in our pictorial report!
