March 2025
Dear praying family!

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and in everything give thanks! What a formula for daily living that’s hard to swallow, particularly when things keep getting more difficult. Having resumed our home bible study, we perceive a hopeless feeling of impotence and insecurity across the board. Lima’s deaths for not paying extortion fees are still on the rise despite the authorities’ efforts to curtail it. Our city remains in second place! In Lima over 450 private schools were forced to close and go online. Here in our city, we allowed the use of the chapel facility for a gathering of private school reps, that we are a part of, to discuss ways to present our needs as a united front to our representatives.
The Lord knew the kind of pasture His people would need for this season in our city. While carrying our folks systematically through the book of Daniel, we are finding the right ammo to combat the spirit of defeat and hopelessness. Who can forget the main lessons in Daniel that God is in control, that there are limits for evil, evil is not eternal, and swift punishment is coming for the wicked, while His people will be relieved and permanently! Isn’t that an awesome promise?! So, we press on with Daniel at a unique juncture in Trujillo!
And God surprises us and gives us reasons to rejoice; give thanks and wait on Him! We stand amazed that after 9 months we got the stolen orphanage minivan back! Yes, you read that right! And you’d guess right that, amidst a steady crime wave in our region, we’d considered it a lost cause. But, one Sunday morning we were summoned to show up to the police station to certify that we are the owners of the white minivan. After three long hours at the station, we learned that our minivan was found two months after it had been stolen, but now seven months have passed since! Why, what happened? We couldn’t get any answers. We are happy to have our unit back and look forward to getting it completely back in shape as it needs major repairs all over.
We are finally getting a bit of respite after a bumpy start at the Elliot School. Though we prepared ahead of time with countless interviews to place and fill new key teaching positions, a week after school started, we “lost” two that kicked off the school year with us and two others had to take medical leave. Where to find replacements at this hour? We cried out to the Lord and He provided. Please pray that our last-minute newcomers will be a good fit for the rest of the year.
A great highlight in March was a trip to the jungle with my son Timothy. It was hard not to feel inspired by the trips the beloved apostle Paul spent traveling with his son Timothy. You have got to see what we did by going to our pictures. We pray we can do more in years to come for the glory of our great God!
