June 2024

Dear praying family!

Please take your time to view our pictures that present to you a step by step run of what we did in June. There are exciting developments with plenty of items to pray about. See them here

"We will never cease to be His children!" That's the comforting thought we decided to embed in the minds of those we were called to share with most of June. This primary need is so Gospel centered that unless we reject our tendency for personal independence, one will not reap the eternal benefits of this precious relationship--I am His and He is mine!

But, what if those you are trying to convey this Father-son relationship to feel like the Father is not coming through in life's challenges? When the power went out at the Hogar de Esperanza compound, the kids were memorizing these verses: Psalm 119:2-3 Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart! They also do no iniquity; they walk in His ways. As it turned out, that week our power lines were vandalized three times. It is no easy task to explain to young inquisitive minds the existence of evil, the resilience of men to remain in iniquity, and the security of God's children. But the repeated crime that week allowed us to affirm the unscathed condition of our relationship with the Father and its eternal repercussions of goodness for those who are in Him and of judgment for those who remain in their sin.

Yet there was one more impactful lesson a week later. One day before getting to the market to buy the weekly supplies of groceries, our minivan was stolen. We are all learning out of this experience. Even us adults have asked our Heavenly Father, "How much more, Lord?" We are lovingly reminded of what we shared with you all in our last update ... "we are not home yet." This pilgrimage will have its ups and downs; this time it seemed there were more downs ... but not quite!
The second half of June the Lord encouraged us and lifted up our spirits as we joined as family with the saints from Friendship Community Baptist Church in Maryland coming to serve with us in the jungle. We had an awesome time with believers from San Luis developing outreach activities and sweating it out working on the foundation for a new church plant site. You can see this and plenty more news in our gallery of pictures and videos here

Prayer & Praise
- We are waiting on the Lord to hear news from the police about our stolen minivan.
- Based on our recent findings about the extreme situation of their immediate family, we are recommending that siblings Miguel, Mayra and Fernando be added to the list of prospects for adoption.
- Also, siblings Anghelo, Isis, Jamilet and Patrick were recently declared in abandonment, therefore officially placed in the list for adoption. May the Lord provide a godly set of parents from them.
- We give thanks to the Lord for allowing our teachers and staff at the Elliot School to show love and self control in the midst of hard issues with unbelieving parents and students.
- Praise the Lord for all the work being done to defend the cause of Hogar de Esperanza in the land dispute. Only He knows how long this case will go on for. We press on armed with the truth and resting in our loving prayers!

Coming up...
- July 14, a celebration of grace as we conduct the wedding ceremony of a couple that allowed the local assembly to see the power of restoration after public church discipline. They desire their wedding ceremony to be an opportunity for both their families to come to know the Savior. May the Lord use us as He sees fit.
- July 18-19, camp out with high schoolers from the Elliot School. We will be challenging them to pursue the life of holiness.
- July 19-21, special event for the assemblies in Lima. Pray the Lord to guide our speaking those 3 days!
- July 28, believer's baptism and Peru's Independence Day message.

With much love and gratitude in Jesus' name!
